ABOUT ME
The Artist
The Artist
The reason “The Artist” comes first in this trilogy is because this is the version of Dylan that she can never seem to turn off. The inventor in her who is constantly creating and constantly looking for ways to improve life through that creativity. She’s always been incredibly inquisitive about the boundless imagination and the unlimited processes of creation. Since Dylan was young she’s always loved learning new ways to create and express through different art forms; from dance, to science, to fashion, to theater, to literature, to engineering, and the list goes on and on. It was the power behind the words of holy scripture that possessed her to put a pen to paper herself and start exercising her poetic craft and storytelling ambitions.
Dylan has always dreamed that her voice and her words would be able to reach the depths of individual souls and lead them to discovery, healing, mental and emotional stimulation, and an overall experience of enlightenment and fulfillment. She likes to refer to herself as a ‘wordplay activist’ or a ‘perspective doctor‘ because sometimes all you need is a little change in perspective for a major change in your life’s direction. Dylan focused on pursuing a career path in singing and songwriting because of the passion she has for music.
The way she sees it, music is medicine and one of her favorite universal languages; she’s in love with all the ways it allows us to communicate, connect, express, and ultimately to feel. After singing countless National Anthems, performing and hosting events across the nation, signing a 5 album record deal with Universal Music Group and Republic Records, and dropping a solo debut single (DIAMOND$) with Uneek Music, her next venture is a fusion of art, culture, fashion, and music called: The Flex City Fashion Jam! A show tour that will feature original music and of course original style, from Dylan and creative masterminds around the globe. As she presents each new creative project to the world she strives to leave an everlasting impression that inspires the artist in everyone.
The True Sign Of Intelligence Is Not Knowledge But Imagination.
The Athlete
“The Athlete” comes next. This is the version of self Dylan gets identified the most with and also makes up the core of this operation. Being an athlete is more than just being physically impressive and skilled at your craft; that’s merely a potential outcome should you choose to stay committed to the physical, mental, and emotional discipline the lifestyle requires of you. Wilma Rudolph was the first athlete who Dylan was ever in awe of. Wilma’s story of where she came from, what she suffered, and what she overcame to become the fastest woman in the world instilled the belief in Dylan that anything is possible if you believe and you give it your all. As a child she played every sport she could, but the one that swept her heart was basketball. She started getting recruited in middle school and received her first division 1 offer in 8th grade.
By her junior year of high school, after playing in the Jr Olympics for volleyball, she committed to play basketball at the University Of Kansas. Unfortunately, within her first year she discovered KU wasn’t an environment that supported her mental health nor her career aspirations outside of basketball, so Dylan made the decision to pursue a closed transfer to the place she knew she wanted to stay and build for years to come: The University Of Nevada Las Vegas.
After graduating with the highest honors in 3.5 years she decided to forgo her final year of eligibility to play basketball because at the time, in 2017, the NCAA would not allow her to seriously pursue a music career or utilize her name, likeness, or image. Yet none of that derailed Dylan from pursuing her dreams, no matter how unconventional the road became.
There are scarce opportunities for women in sports at professional levels, and those that are available aren’t usually reflective of the value the athletes bring. It has been Dylan’s mission to change that narrative and bridge the wage gap by creating more generous opportunities for women in sports. That determination led her to developing her own professional league and becoming a part team owner of the Las Vegas Professional Streetball Franchise with the Blacktop Streetball Association. Stay tuned because Dylan and her team could be destroying all challengers in a city near you! For more information visit: BTSBA.com
You Become What You Believe.
The Activist
This version of self is the period at the end of the sentence. This one makes the real statement: “The Activist”. Harriet Tubman is who helped Dylan shape her identity in this space, and reminds her of who she is and what she does it all for. Standing for what’s good and just in the world while simultaneously giving back is something she always desires to achieve.
Being an activist is one of the things Dylan takes the most pride in because she has the unwavering belief that she’s here on Earth to make a difference and to be the change that she wants to see. In everything Dylan does giving back and educating are recurring themes. Her goal is never to make people feel like charities but rather to feel celebrated and uplifted. Mental health and personal development are two of the fields Dylan is partial to and is eager to continue bringing more awareness to. In an effort to help reinstill more love back into the culture Dylan started a nonprofit organization with her twin sister Dakota called The Peace Train Foundation: to anybody who needs more love hop on board.
In addition to curating a mentorship program for all walks of life and starting the #BeStrongNotSilent movement for people who have survived sexual and non sexual assault or abuse, she has had the privilege of working with some phenomenal individuals and organizations. The Peace Train has been working with Sadguru, The ISHA Foundation, and Conscious Planet on his #SaveSoil movement. Soil is a living organism that is dying predominantly due to human activities. The lack of organic content turns soil to sand leading to: food crisis, mental health crisis, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, climate change, loss of livelihood, conflict and migration.
